On the 9th of January, in front of the office of The Kurdish Information Center, a commemorative plaque has been installed to commemorate, Sakine Cansiz, Fidan Doğan and Leyla Söylemez the three Kurdish women activists assassinated 5 years ago in this same place. The presumed murderer Omer Güney a 34 years old Turkish man, who was linked with the Turkish secret services, died five weeks before the beginning of his trial, leaving behind him a telephone with hundreds of pictures of Kurdish activists.
On the banners carried as each year by the protesters we could read “Justice for murdered militants”, “We do not forget, we do not forgive”, “The murderer is dead but our thoughts are alive and free. What is France doing?”.
As long as the French police will not finally make the clarity on this murder and sue those who backed it, Euromed Feminist Initiative will demand justice for the three victims whose life was dedicated to freedom and dignity.
