Women in Black in Serbia (Žene u crnom) is a feminist, anti-militarist, and peace network created in 1991. They have since organized thousands of street actions, created spaces for women’s voices and activism against all forms of patriarchy, war, violence and militarism, and produced more than 250 publications on alternative history, inter alia.
On the night of October 23rd, unidentified individuals vandalized the entry door of their office.
This is not the first time our colleagues and friends have been subjected to intimidation, harassment, and threats. They have faced both verbal and physical attacks all along their 30 years of existence. Their members and their offices have frequently been the target of violent aggressions by fascist individuals and organizations, which were invariably met with impunity.
EuroMed Feminist Initiative strongly condemns these heinous acts and stands in solidarity with Žene u crnom and the women's rights movement in Serbia.
We add our voice to their demand that the State of Serbia put an end to the impunity for perpetrators of all forms of violence against women and women’s rights organizations.
