On the 4th and 5th of March 2018, the Board of the Euromed Feminist Initiative (EFI) met in Paris to discuss future plans and analyze the status of women, women’s rights and gender equality’s recent alarming developments in the Euromed region and at International level.
Few days before the International Women’s Rights day, the EFI Board debated on the recent achievements of the network, among others the Conference in Geneva with The Coalition of Syrian Women for Democracy, the Launching of the comparative study on constitutional processes in the Arab World in cooperation with the High School of Political Sciences Paris, the hearing in the EU Parliament on “women as agents of change in the southern neighborhood".
Besides the discussion related to the success of the Cairo Euromed Civil society conference and the next phase of national dialogues organized in the follow up to widen the knowledge of the gender regional platform and the debate on the UfM ministerial process on women , in order to support the improvement of the status of women in the Euromed region.
Finally some decisions were taken to improve the functioning and visibility of the network and associate the new members in the best possible way to the ongoing EFI actions aiming at facing the global and increasing wave of political and social regression, standing for fair and urgent political solution of the Syrian conflict and globally in the whole region, with the reaffirmation of a continuous support for a Palestinian independent State, in the 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital.
