Euromed Feminist Initiative with the support of the European Union and in partnership with Appropriate Communication Techniques for Development (ACT) held a national dialogue “Following up on the 4th UfM Ministerial Meeting on women’s rights” on 10-11 July, 2018 in Cairo, Egypt. Click here to view the photo album. 

The event initiated a discussion with stakeholders on mechanisms to follow up on the implementation of the Ministerial commitments as a part of the regional process to follow up the 4th UfM Ministerial Declaration, led by Euromed Feminist Initiative and supported by the EU. The participants discussed the Ministerial Declaration from the 4th UfM ministerial meeting on women’s rights (27/11/2017, Cairo) and the Declaration of Civil Society Conference (23-24/11/2017, Cairo). They discussed as well the outcomes of the National Civil Society Forums held in other countries and suggested mechanisms for the implementation of gender equality in Egypt through the Ministerial process with focus on economic empowerment.

H.E. Ambassador Wafaa Bassim, Egyptian ambassador to the United Nations and Ms. Leila Al Ali, Co-President of Euromed Feminist Initiative discussed the Ministerial Declaration from the 4th UfM ministerial meeting on women’s rights (27/11/2017, Cairo) and the Declaration of the Civil Society Conference that Euromed Feminist Initiative organized back to back with the Ministerial Conference (22-23/11/2017, Cairo). They also discussed ways and means to follow up on the governmental commitments to implement gender equality policy and national mechanisms for the implementation of the Declaration from the 4th UfM Ministerial Conference on women’s rights.

Ms. Munira Hammami, Secretary General of the Tunisian Women's Association for Development Research and Ms. Majida Masri, Former Minister of Social Development in Palestine shared and exchanged the outcomes from the Palestinian & Tunisian national forums. Ms. Azza Kamel, Executive Director of Appropriate Communication Techniques for Development (ACT) discussed mechanisms for the implementation of gender equality in Egypt through the Ministerial process with focus on economic empowerment
