Equality First Campaign: IFE-EFI continues to follow up on the Istanbul-Marrakesh process on Strengthening women’s rights in the Euro-Med with particular focus on the conclusions from the last Ministerial Conference held in September 2013 in Paris. IFE-EFI participated in the High Level Conference “Fostering Participation of Women in Economic Life in the Euro-Mediterranean Region”, which took place in Barcelona on 19-21 May 2015 and the back-to-back “Regional Dialogue on Women Empowerment” with UfM members’ governments and regional and international stakeholders, including civil society. Visit: http://ufmsecretariat.org/. IFE-EFI mobilizes and advocates in the entire region for the respect and implementation of women’s rights as universal human rights and for equality between women and men as a top political priority on the agendas of decision-makers. This remains a crucial means to facing the raising fundamentalism and ultra-conservative trends.
Political solution for Syria: IFE-EFI ongoing activities continue to support an inclusive political transition towards democracy in Syria. IFE-EFI encourages the UN to impart an immediate revival of the political negotiations based on the Geneva I statement, for ending the bloodshed and dictatorship in Syria. The implementation of the UNSCR 1325 is a needed means to ensure the equal participation of women in all political processes.
Palestine: Mobilization and advocacy for establishing an independent and sovereign State of Palestine in the 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital and the right of the Palestinians to return to their home land is among the leading priorities of IFE-EFI. This is a precondition and necessary step to reaching sustainable peace and to facilitating political changes towards democracy in the whole region.
International solidarity: Democracy and social justice, universality of human rights of women and men, non-violence, secularism and establishing and/or preserving civil states and civil legislation that ensure people’s democracy and freedom of expression and self-determination, as well as the equality between all citizens, women and men alike, can be effectively promoted only with international solidarity.
Euromed Feminist Initiative IFE-EFI will continue to advocate for women’s rights as universal human rights and a full part of democracy and citizenship, together against war and occupation, for the right of peoples to self-determination. Through its platform, Euromed Feminist Initiative IFE-EFI speaks out for women's universal rights, locally, regionally and internationally.
